Seven lessons I learned about Sales

I've recently learned some valuable lessons about sales and want to pass them along to you so that YOU can learn from MY mistakes. These are not rocket-science, but we often forget about them.
  1. I didn't take time to get to know the prospect - Who are they? What do they need? How can I help [either personally or connect them with the person who can]?
  2. The prospect isn't qualified for what I can provide or doesn't want help. (see #1)
  3. I was afraid of silence.
  4. I was unclear of the prospects' needs (see #1)
  5. I cam in and was too quick to "throw up" all my great benefits - how did I know I could help? (see #1)
  6. I missed the REAL reason someone chooses to work with me...ME
  7. I may not appear to care about the prospect (see #1)
If you caught on...I forgot to take the time to get to know the person who had shared with me their time. Who are they? How'd they get to where they are? What do they want? What do they need? How can I help?

Don't make the same mistake as I did and forget to stop and listen!
