Strategically thinking about what change?

When you boil all the strategic thinking down, strategic thinking focuses attention and effort on one of three areas of change, yes, there's that "four-letter word" - change. But, we should not view change as a four-letter word, nor should we change something simply for change, but change for improvement:
Are you changing the structure of your company?
Are you changing a process?
Are you changing a market in which your product/service if offered?

Strategy allows a leader to take a step away from the day-to-day operations and instead, gain a "30,000 foot view" which provides you a view of the entire landscape. How resources are being utilized, where staff are focusing their time, potential new markets to enter [or existing ones to exit,] more efficient procedures, re-allocation of funds, working smarter not harder with less resources, or perhaps better use of equipment.

What are new ways to combine existing resources to gain greater outcomes? - All with the client/customer at the forefront of the decisions to anticipate the future needs of your client/customer. Strategic Thinking!  Don't we all wish we had one of those wonderful crystal balls? I'm sorry, but I don't think the Magic Eight Ball will work in this endeavor.

To evaluate any of the above changes, you must dig deeper into the company and everything about it. You must evaluate news in new light of how will or could this affect, help, or hurt my clients/customers? As with any new muscle, the more you think strategically, the more it will become second nature and you will become a daily strategic thinker. THEN, your business and company will explode.
